Pollock Pines Friends of the Library (FOL) News

FOL welcomed Todd Borg for a well-attended author talk on June 23 at the library. The mobile nature of the bookshelves and reception desk allowed us to accommodate the crowd! These are FREE events sponsored by our local Friends of the Library to continue making our library a vibrant part of our community for current and future generations.

On June 28, Brian Scott brought his magic to the Community Center. Later that day, local Forest Service Rangers inducted our Junior Rangers (16 children) that completed their booklets. It was a wonderful surprise to have Smokey Bear and the Fire Engine at the library.

Volunteers Still Needed!

One of the immediate needs in this community is for volunteer participation. Each of the many events and other community efforts require commitment by all kinds of volunteers, however volunteers are now in short supply, raising the possibility that much-loved, longstanding events are in danger of being canceled or significantly scaled back. There are many organizations with various focuses: sponsoring community events, supporting our youth with scholarships and library supplies and programs, working to build playgrounds, beautifying our landscapes, supporting local economic vitality, providing environmental education programs, and many other worthwhile goals. If you are able to volunteer your time and talents, please reach out to become involved at whatever level that you are comfortable with at one (or more) of our local organizations.

Here are some examples - check out their websites to see if they might be a fit for you. If not, there are many other possibilities in El Dorado County. Thank you for your support!

Thanks to all who already participate as a volunteer! You are much appreciated.
