Local News from the Community Economic Development Association of Pollock Pines
Caldor Tribute Unveiled!
After the Caldor fire, local artist Darby Patterson had a vision to create a permanent tribute to those who fought the fire. Darby’s many talents include bronze sculpture and she chose this medium for her tribute panels. It’s been almost a five year journey to bring this monument to fruition. Thanks to all of the folks who donated to the fundraisers, without whom this would not have been possible.
The El Dorado County Fire Protection District welcomed the monument at Station 17. Doug Veerkamp graciously donated the labor and expertise for the foundation. Greg Duncan designed and built the monument wall, and he did a great job showcasing the panels. The unveiling ceremony was held July 25th and Channel 13 was there - see their story and video here.
Weekly activities at the Community Center:
· Yoga Fusion on Mondays at 9:30am, $5 suggested donation
· Bingo weekly on Tuesday nights, food for purchase at 5pm, calling starts at 6:15pm
· Tai Chi on Thursdays at 10:00am & 12:10pm, $10 per person
· Senior Balance and Strength Training on Thursdays at 11:05am, $10 per person

EL DORADO COUNTY RECOGNIZED FOR WILDFIRE PLANNING AND PREPAREDNESS
For the second consecutive time, we received a nod from the State for the work we've ALL been doing to make El Dorado County a safer, more resilient, and prepared place to be when it comes to the risk of wildfire.
Thanks to our fire, emergency services, non-government, and citizen partners for making a big difference! “Earning this designation for a second time reflects the significant progress we’ve made through the dedication of our County departments, fire agencies, community partners, and residents,” said Tanya Harlow, OWPR’s Wildfire Resilience Officer. “While we’re pleased with the designation, we recognize the job is never done. By collaborating with our partners on planning, mitigation, preparedness and education, we will continue to reduce wildfire risk and help make our communities safer and stronger.”
In addition to recognizing El Dorado County’s leadership in wildfire preparedness, the designation may benefit residents directly, as California Department of Insurance regulations require insurers to consider Fire Risk Reduction Community status in their rating plans. Homeowners should contact their insurance provider to determine whether the designation qualifies then for available discounts.
El Dorado Irrigation District News
At the November 3, 2026 General Election, voters will have the opportunity to elect two candidates to four-year terms on the El Dorado Irrigation District (EID) Board of Directors, representing Division 2 and Division 4. Division 4 includes voters in both El Dorado County and Sacramento County. Learn more here.

You are invited to enjoy a hot, nutritious meal, Monday through Friday at any of the Senior Dining Centers listed below. Lunch is served from 12:00 to 12:30 p.m. for the suggested voluntary contribution of $5.00 per meal for adults 60 years and older. Monday through Friday at the
