Friday Night Fiesta Dinners Return to the Community Center!

April through October - 2nd Fridays - exception May 5th for Cinco de Mayo

News from Pollock Pines Friends of the Library (PP FOL)

First 5 El Dorado, El Dorado County Library, Friends of the Library, El Dorado Community Foundation, and United Way of Northern Nevada and the Sierra have partnered with Marcella Foundation to launch Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library for 8,000 children ages five and under living in El Dorado County.

Each child in the home will receive an age-appropriate book every month in Spanish or English for FREE! Sign up online today or use the mail-in registration form here.

The Pollock Pines Library will soon be temporarily closed for much needed renovations. The estimated time frame for closure is April 1st through April 30th. The book drop will be closed as of March 30th. Book return due dates have been extended and you may also return borrowed books at any county library.

Our FOL combined Board/Public meetings are usually held at the library, so the Community Center has graciously offered space for our April 9th meeting - 11am @ 2675 Sanders Drive. Hope to see you there!

  • Energy Discount Program: PG&E encourages eligible customers to sign up. Income-eligible customers could save 18% on their monthly electric bill by enrolling in the Family Electric Rate Assistance (FERA) Program.

  • California Climate Credit: PG&E customers to receive up to $140 for gas and electric service with the California Climate Credit on their Spring bill. See the full details here.

  • Scam Warning: Scammers swindled nearly $900,000 from PG&E customers in 2023. Here are some tips for how to avoid being a victim.

  • Free Tax Prep: Free tax preparation is offered under the VITA program (gross income under $66,000) sponsored by the United Way, California Capital Region, and the Tax-Aide program (no income limitations or age restrictions) sponsored by the AARP Foundation. They will conduct an interview of your tax situation, prepare your return, quality review your return with you, and, if you approve, e-file your Federal and California tax returns. You can read more about the service and locations here.

  • Civil Grand Jury: The Superior Court of El Dorado County is accepting applications from qualified residents interested in serving as Civil Grand Jurors for the time period of July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2025. A time-honored tradition since 1854, the El Dorado County Civil Grand Jury is a panel of 19 residents investigating county government, city government and special districts including public schools. Applications will be accepted through email, online, or postmarked by May 5, 2024.

  • Defensible Space Ordinance Update: The Office of Wildfire Preparedness and Resilience (OWPR) has hosted public workshops to provide additional information on the proposed Ordinance amendments and address any questions or concerns. Recordings of these workshops are available here.

  • New Perimeter Tool informs residents: The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office has a new emergency evacuation tool as seen in a recent Mtn Democrat article. Residents across the county now have access to an online map that will show if there are evacuation warnings and orders that impact their area, as well as identify evacuation routes during emergency situations, including fires and flooding.

  • Trip to Green detour through Placerville: Shimmick Construction and the El Dorado County Department of Transportation (DOT) will be performing an 1,100 cubic yard concrete placement for the Pier 2 (south) foundation of the new Mosquito Road Bridge over the South Fork American River, currently in construction. The concrete operation will require a “Trip to Green” detour on US HWY 50 from Friday April 5, 2024 at 9:00 pm until Saturday April 6, 2024 at 11:00 am.

  • Ice House Road Construction: Phase 2 Rehabilitation Project runs May 2024 through November 2024. 30-60 minute delays expected Mon-Fri between Union Valley Reservoir and Wentworth Springs Road. See more detail here.
