Thanks to the volunteers who decorated the EDSB tree with our new Christmas lights in preparation for the big tree lighting on Dec 2! CEDAPP sponsored the rental of a towable boom lift and acquired 500' of new LED lights for this effort. The Pollock Pines-Camino Community Center is hosting its 29th Non-Alcoholic New Years Eve Celebration & Bingo Extravaganza on Sunday, December 31, 2023! If you have a favorite table, please make your reservation early! Reservation Form and Info Sheet will be posted separately. Admission fee includes two six packs for 20 games. Hors D'oeuvres, full dinner with dessert, i.e. cheesecake, and snacks during the evening. There will be party favors, sparkling apple cider at midnight, and of course lots of door prizes! Members of the community can support the library and our programs by shopping our used book sales: fill a standard size bag for $5 during library hours at the Foyer Book Sale.


Watch for our Mega Book Sales at Safeway on the Friday before Memorial Day & Labor Day weekends. You can donate gently used books at the library during open hours.

The Pollock Pines Community Library hours are Tues/Wed/Fri/Sat from noon - 4PM.

PG&E Rate Hike Unanimously Approved by California Public Utilities Commission


The rate increase, which goes into effect Jan. 1, will result in an average monthly increase of $22.20 for electric-only customers, $10.43 for natural gas-only customers, and $32.62 for electric and gas customers. Read more here.

 

Road Construction Alert:

Work is beginning on the Pony Express Trail Bicycle, Pedestrian and ADA Improvements Capital Improvement Project.

El Dorado County’s Department of Transportation will be performing tree removals along the south side of Pony Express Trail between Sanders Drive and Sly Park Road.

This work will result in temporary shoulder and lane closures along the eastbound lane of Pony Express Trail with flagging. This temporary lane closure and flagging will be in place between approximately 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. beginning on Monday, December 4th, through approximately Friday, December 15th, subject to weather conditions and possible weather delays. Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work zone to arrive at their destinations on time.

 

El Dorado County would like your feedback on the Public Draft Safety Element Update. The Safety Element Update is a required section of the General Plan, which identifies potential health and safety concerns in the unincorporated areas of the County and lays out goals and policies to protect the community.

The County is hosting a virtual public workshop on Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at 5:30 p.m. on Microsoft Teams. You may access the workshop at https://bit.ly/47xRFdl. The Safety Element Update has goals, policies, and measures that address existing and future natural hazards in the County. Your participation will help us develop effective strategies that reflect the needs of our community.

We are saddened to report the first El Dorado County death this year of someone from West Nile Virus. The death occurred at the end of October. The individual was over the age of 55 and resided on the West Slope of El Dorado County. Read more here.

Through the partnership of EDSO HOT Team, True Value, Mtn. Enterprise, CVS,

CEDAPP and other community volunteers, a clean-up behind CVS is scheduled!

Saturday, December 2 9 AM – about noon

Needed: about 10 adults (no minors on this project) to do the “lighter” work

that the heavy equipment cannot do. RSVP here.

Safety is our #1 priority, so need to wear a mask, heavy gloves

and closed-toe shoes, preferably heavy boots.

We will be providing refreshments and the more folks we get, the sooner we can be done!

You are invited to enjoy a hot, nutritious meal, Monday through Friday at any of the Senior Dining Centers listed below. Lunch is served from 12:00 to 12:30 p.m. for the suggested voluntary contribution of $3.00 per meal for adults 60 years and older. Monday through Friday at the Community Center
