Pacific Gas & Electric News
PG&E Decreased Residential Electric Rates on Sept. 1,
Expected to Go Down Again in 2026
Electric rates for PG&E residential customers decreased by 2.1% on Sept. 1, For the typical residential customer who uses 500 kilowatt hours a month and does not receive discounts, monthly bills will decrease by about $5. In the last three years, PG&E has saved approximately $2.5 billion in operating and capital costs by working more efficiently and using new technologies and improved processes, such as using drones to inspect equipment and bundling electric projects into a single scope of work. PG&E has used the savings to do more safety and reliability work for customers more quickly and to offset some costs of that work. California Climate Credit Coming in October
Millions of PG&E residential customers will automatically receive a $58.23 electric California Climate Credit on their October energy bill. This credit is distributed by PG&E to customers as directed by the CPUC. Visit http://cpuc.ca.gov/climatecredit to learn more.

PG&E drone teams may be out in your neighborhood capturing photos of our poles and power lines for our inspection teams. These inspections are vital to maintaining the safety of our electric grid. We are only capturing photos of our equipment, not your property. These flights will happen during daylight hours.
If you see or hear a drone and have questions, please look around for the pilot they will be wearing reflective vests and will be PG&E employees or approved PG&E Contractors with PG&E contractor IDs and reflective vests. Please wait until the drone has safely landed before approaching the pilot. If you have questions, call this number for more information 1-877-295-4949

After some detailed work over the summer, we have succeeded in splitting the original PP Firewise Community (FWC) into 4 smaller areas: PP North, PP Central, PP Sly Park Hills (SPH), and PP South. (Gold Ridge and Sierra Springs FWCs already exist.) Maps are included here for your reference.
We still need to collect data to complete and finalize applications for these new FWCs, to show we have done work in educational outreach, vegetation removal, and risk reduction.
You can contribute by completing the form here. The form does not specify, but PLEASE include your address or FWC name on the form so that it goes to the correct group. If you are unsure of your correct FWC, please reach out here.
For now, all forms can come to me, unless you know who is heading your FWC. (PP North is Karen Duncan; PP Central is Jay Chopp. PP SPH is being finalized this week; PP South is in progress.)
Any and all work you do to improve your defensible space can be logged: filling yard waste bins, raking needles/cones, limbing trees, removing trees, whacking weeds or brush. AND money you pay someone else to do this work can also be logged and recorded.
Any work to harden your home can be logged: new roof, new vents, covering eaves, sealing cracks in roofline or around a garage, covering gutters. Time you spent doing these AND cost of materials is included. AND any money you paid someone else to do this work also counts.
