El Dorado Irrigation District News
California law targets lawns
Assembly Bill 1572 (AB 1572), passed by the California state legislature in 2023, prohibits the use of potable water to irrigate nonfunctional turf on commercial, industrial, and institutional properties, as well as common areas owned by homeowners’ associations, common interest developments, and community service organizations.
The prohibitions will phase in starting January 1, 2027, for local and regional public agencies; January 1, 2028, for other institutional, commercial, and industrial properties, and January 1, 2029, for HOAs and similar entities.
EID Adjusts Hours to Enhance Efficiency
Starting Friday, Nov. 6, El Dorado Irrigation District's (EID/District) headquarters lobby and customer service phone lines will be closed on Fridays.
The office will continue normal hours Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with phone lines open until 4 p.m.
The change gives EID's Utility Billing team dedicated time to work through account processing, billing questions and service requests without the interruptions of a full day of walk-ins and calls.
As a result, customer service staff will be able to provide better service, faster turnaround and fewer delays the rest of the week.

Congratulations to the new Sly Park Hills FIREWISE Community!

Even though it feels like fall, our fire season is still very much underway.
September – November can be our most significant time for large fires. Fuels across the region remain critically dry, and the strong, unpredictable winds we typically experience in September and October can quickly turn a small ignition into a significant wildfire.
