Forebay Park Update
A meeting with El Dorado County Parks Manager, Zachary Perras, clarified some details regarding the future Senior Equipment installation at Forebay Park, which is scheduled for late fall of this year (weather permitting), The equipment will be installed on a rubberized poured in place base and a security camera will be installed to cover the equipment and playground features.
Mr. Perras then shared the current NCE design, which was 65% complete at the time with a complete deign due by early April. Proposed changes will eliminate unnecessary grading, while enlarging the footprint for the playground and senior fitness equipment.
With that said, here are some of the specific points that were covered:
1) The majority of the remaining budget will pay for necessary tree removal, grading, asphalt work and the required ADA compliant walkway from the new bathroom to the playground, fitness equipment/base installation, all inclusive playground features and ball field upgrades.
2) Playground equipment may be purchased and installed by the county rather than sourcing it out to a company in order to get the most out of the monies earmarked for the equipment.
The current goal is that finalized NCE plans will be accepted by the BOS with the request for construction bids to follow. His desire is to start construction (tree removal, grading, asphalt work and required ADA compliant walkway) when the Snowline Little League season ends this year, with the hope that all of the aforementioned work to be completed before the winter weather sets in.
Installation of the playground features is scheduled to begin in 2026. Depending upon weather conditions, that may be in the Spring as long as it doesn’t conflict with Snowline’s schedule but if it does, installation may be put off until early summer to insure the safety of the Little Leaguer’s, as construction and kids are not compatible. Realistically, the playground should be ready for use by September 2026.

Here’s How to Keep Them (and Your Waste) Safe!
Spring is here, and that means our local bears are coming out of their long rest and looking for food. Your scraps could attract unwanted visitors. Here’s how El Dorado Disposal customers can keep wildlife wild: 🗑 Need an animal-resistant can? They are available from El Dorado Disposal. 🍂 Layer food scraps with dry waste like leaves, straw, or lawn clippings to cut down on smells. ❄️ Freeze food scraps until pick-up day to keep odors locked in. ⏰ Take trash out in the morning—not the night before when bears are most active. 💡 Keep bins in a well-lit spot or use motion-sensor lights to deter nighttime guests.
